Rosa Parks

On December 1st 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give her seat to a white man. While this may seem like a very simple thing to us now at the time it was revolutionary. At the time buses (along with many other things) were 'segregated' this means there was a section for white people and a section for black people. During this particular day a white man did not have a seat so the bus driver asked Rosa Parks and 3 other people to vacate their seats to make another 'white' row. Rosa Parks refused. Black people have fought to have the rights and privileges they deserve and by refusing to give up her seat Rosa Parks was standing up for what she knew was right. What she did was illegal as segregation was the law, but she sparked a movement and for this she is an inspiration. Click the pictures below to find out more.
